These Easy Hard Boiled Eggs uses a super simple foolproof technique that gives me perfect eggs every single time. It only takes 7 minutes to cook!
Hard boiled eggs are my breakfast of choice lately during the work week because it’s easy to prepare a batch when I’m meal prepping.
Back in the day, I’ve never paid attention to how long I’m boiling my eggs for. They always turned out overcooked which I thought were okay.
You know that grey ring around the yolk when you slice it up?
Yep, overcooked. Talk about eating dry eggs!
I thought that was legit normal but nope. It wasn’t!
Different people have different preferences in terms of how cooked they want the yolk to be but for me personally, I want my hard boiled eggs to be firm on the outside yet soft in the middle but not runny.
Take note of the following when cooking hard boiled eggs:
1. Use a slotted spoon to gently lower eggs one by one into the pot of boiling water. This will prevent the eggs from cracking!
2. Prepare the ice bath while the eggs are cooking so it’s ready once the 7-minute timer is up. You need to quickly transfer the cooked eggs in this ice bath to prevent it from overcooking.
Prefer a softer or firmer yolk for your Easy Hard Boiled Eggs?
Cook eggs for 5 minutes for a soft boiled yolk.
Cook eggs for 10 minutes for a firm yolk.
