This Spiced Homemade Popcorn has a bold combination of savory flavors that you’ll want to make over and over again.
A fresh bucket of salty, buttery popcorn has always been my jam if I had to pick one snack to indulge in. It takes just a few minutes to make it at home and I can add as much butter as want!
I also like to add savory spices to my popcorn to add a different flavor dimension. That means this entire batch of Spiced Homemade Popcorn is just for me! Kidding.
I used the gluten-free Yellow Popcorn from Bob’s Red Mill, lotsa butter (don’t skimp on this!) and a few of my favorite spices to create this buttery treat.
Spiced Popcorn
Ingredients
- 3 tbsp avocado oil
- 1/2 cup yellow corn kernels
- 1/4 cup butter melted
- 1 tsp paprika smoked or sweet
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1/4 tsp garlic powder
- 1/4 tsp ground cumin
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp sea salt
Instructions
-
Heat avocado oil on a large pot over medium high heat for 2 minutes until it begins to smoke.
-
Slowly pour the corn kernels into the pot. Give it a little shake so each kernel is covered with oil.
-
Cover the pan and wait until the kernels begin to pop rapidly.
-
Once it starts to slow down and you only hear a pop every couple of seconds, turn off the heat immediately.
-
Keep the pot covered for 2 minutes to make sure no kernels will pop anymore.
-
Pour the melted butter on top of the popcorn. Mix to evenly distribute the butter.
-
In a small bowl, combine the paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, ground cumin, pepper and salt. Mix.
-
Sprinkle the spice mix on the popcorn. Mix well.
-
Serve immediately.
